2.2 in 21 minutes

It felt good....really good...to get out and run again.  I'm happy nothing hurts anymore from Broad Street and happy to see my pace is back!

Not much going on in our world today...off to work.  The kids are looking forward to a campfire and smores tonight!

The laundry room project is nearly done.  It is all painted...but we can't use them until Saturday.  So, the house continues to be a disorganized mess in the laundry room and in law suite!  He did an incredible job.  Pictures will be up once we move all our crap into them!

I did it!!!!!!

I did it! I ran 10 miles this morning. HOLY CRAP! This from the girl who used to strategize ways to get out of running "the mile" in high school gym class.

Here I am with Barb (left) and Lisa (right) prior to the race.  Notice we are smiling, happy, and excited!

I had 3 goals for the race today.  Disappointingly, I only accomplished two of them.  My goals were:

  1. Run the whole race (no walking)
  2. Finish in the top 20,000 (out of 30,000 registrants); i.e. the top 2/3
  3. Finish in under 1:45
I ran the whole race and I finished in 18,573rd place.  YAY ME!

Sadly, I couldn't break 1:45.  I came in at 1:51.  I know I shouldn't be disappointed in myself; I just ran 10 freakin' miles.  There was nothing I could do about the heat and humidity.  I hadn't trained in that type of weather and I wasn't prepared for it.  The sun totally kicked my butt around mile 7.  Despite all the runs through the fire hydrants and multiple cups of water over my head and down my shirt, I was slowing down.  The last 3 miles were horrible.   I'm still incredibly proud of myself.  :)

Here I am after the race with my most wonderful husband.  He drove me (and my friends) to the start line, drove to the finish and got a prime parking spot, and chauffeured our tired butts back home!  Love you honey...thanks for supporting me!

FINALLY...

Just a few more hours till Broad street! I am happy to report I'm healthy...no aches, pains, etc. That alone is a huge triumph for me.

The heat is freaking me out a bit. I'm definitely going to hydrate more than I planned. If I miss my goal time because I have to pee several times along the way, then so be it. I can't control the weather!

I will post an update tomorrow with my race recap and time!

My baby is 6!

They grow up so fast, don't they? I can't believe my baby is 6!  He had a phenomenal day yesterday...a great party, lots of great gifts, and all of his favorite foods!

I went out for a (wet) 5 yesterday AM with Lisa.  It was misting on us the whole way.  I've never run in the rain before and I can't say I enjoyed it.  I had to keep wiping my face with my sleeve.  I could have wrung out my hair when I got home.

I am really looking forward to Broad Street next week!  I am injury free, adequately trained and ready!

Broad Street Ready!!!

I ran 8 miles this morning.  My times are continuing to improve...I ran it in 1:24.  My last 7 mile run was 1:17.  I'm ready!  10 miles...flat, fast, straight, with wind at your back...can't wait!

No turning back now...

I'm officially a registered runner in the Broad Street 10 miler. I've got 2 months to double my current distance.  ;)

I'll post regular updates on my training:

Today's Run:  3.1 miles, 32 minutes.  Minor left shin pain.  I have a feeling icy hot is my new perfume for the next 2 months.  Goal is to go 6 miles on Saturday AM (either with Fleet Feet gang if we are home or around the two lakes twice if we end up going to the Poconos).

Praying for a miss on this snowstorm...I just can't take it anymore.

I'm baaaaackkkkk....

Ahhh...it is so good to be running again.  Soles to pavement, nothing but me and my music!  I did a great 5-mile run on Sunday!  I can't believe how quickly I got my milelage back after being out for a few weeks.

Broad Street run sign ups are open.  Now I just have to convince myself that I can double what I did on Sunday.  All my runner girlz tell me I only need to train to 8 and that adrenaline will carry me the last 2.  If that's true, I only need to be able to run 3 more.  I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...

Whose joining me?  Estee?  Catherine?  Lisa?  You guys game?
