9 miles, a smile, and a product review...

Friday's weather was perfect! I escaped for a 9 miler and felt really great afterwards. In fact, you couldn't wipe the smile off my face all day. Nothing hurt post run...and the miles really came easy.  That's my kind of day.  I will head out for 4 tomorrow to bring my weekly total to 17 miles.  My 10 mile race is just around the corner (see race schedule at right).

The kind folks at Tostitos gave me a free coupon for their new Artisan Recipe chips.  All I needed to do was let you guys know what I think of them.  I picked the garlic & blackbean.  Our whole family dug in and here are the comments;

ARL (age 9):  Yumm, these are good
JAL (age 6):  I am not eating these...I hate black beans.  You can't make me, Mom.  (watch everyone else dig in).  Hmmm...these chips are good.  Really good.  And, I don't even like black beans.
ML (age over 40):  Good...but I like my Doritos better.  Disclaimer:  The man can eat a whole bag in one sitting...he is quite the fan.
Me (age 36):  Better than plain tortilla chips...not too salty. You can definitely taste that there is more than just corn in the chips.  I would buy them again for sure.

Check them out!

A great day!

What a great day...kicked it off with a nice 3.3 miles with fleet feet. Hubby was able to join me since both kids were at sleepovers! Now if that isn't running dedication, I'm not sure what is. We have both kids away for the night and we get up at 7:30 am to run!!

I also got a lovely massage at citrus today. Citrus is one of the best spas in the area. I love Barb...she gives the best massages and is just so incredibly nice!!  I had no clue, but apparently Citrus has a rewards club.  They told me I had $12 on credit for being a loyal customer.  I didn't use it today since I had a gift card from my bday...but I'm thinking next time I go, I'll score a free mani!  WOO HOO!!

Hubby is cooking steak on the grill for dinner tonight. I'll make the creamed spinach and we'll indulge in a lovely Cabernet. In fact, it is just about 4 pm...time for happy hour!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's!!

2.2 in 21 minutes

It felt good....really good...to get out and run again.  I'm happy nothing hurts anymore from Broad Street and happy to see my pace is back!

Not much going on in our world today...off to work.  The kids are looking forward to a campfire and smores tonight!

The laundry room project is nearly done.  It is all painted...but we can't use them until Saturday.  So, the house continues to be a disorganized mess in the laundry room and in law suite!  He did an incredible job.  Pictures will be up once we move all our crap into them!

Another beautiful run...

Headed out to get 3 in this morning before my Mom left to head back home. She was helping out with kid watching for the first part of the week due to the strike.  ARL had a blast with her and my sister...they went out for sushi, went shopping, and went to see my grandfather (who will be 91 in a few weeks).

I am working from home with ARL.  JAL is at daycare because we all know I get nothing done when he's home.  I am looking forward to tomorrow...It's take your child to work day!  ARL is coming to Bridgewater (my home office) with me for the day!  She always enjoys these days and the timing couldn't be better with the strike!

The laundry room project is in design phase.  Our contractor hopes to build it this weekend and install next week.  I cannot wait!  I hate the backpacks, violin, laptop bags, etc. all over the floor.  I am not good with disorganization!  It breeds stress for me!

Getting faster...

I ran 3 this morning in 29:05!  It seems I have broken the 10 minute mile mark for my shorter runs...but not for the distance runs.

I really need to stop caring so much about my times and just enjoy my runs. The weather was crisp, cool, and beautiful. The trees are still blooming and my asthma is controlled on the inhaler (despite all this pollen).

I'm looking forward to seeing my Gidge tonight (whose been away with Grandma since Sunday) and having a nice dinner!  Hubby is cooking stuffed chicken breasts on the new grill (my prize winning recipe) while JL and I are making a pasta salad recipe he found in a kids magazine.  Throw in a glass (or two) of Chardonnay and I'm thinking it's going to be a great evening!

Praying for a successful resolution to the strike tonight...

7 miles to kick off Easter weekend!

I'm so ready for the weekend....Gorgeous weather and a trip to Baltimore/DC.  The cherry blossoms are blooming and we will be exploring DC in shorts!

I ran a new course this morning that my neighbor told me about.  It's 6.1 door to door so I added a small loop in the neighborhood to get me to 7 miles.  Felt great!!  Time was 1:17.  Not great, but not too bad, either.  Four minutes faster than my last 7 mile run!

Off for the weekend...Everyone have a great holiday and don't eat too much candy!

Right back at it!

I was pretty stiff and sore yesterday from my race.  I cross trained on the stationary bike, and did arms & abs.  Other than that, I took it easy and tried to stretch frequently.  We also sat in the hot tub for a while.

A very wise man (AKA my Dad) once told me that when you are stiff and sore, the best exercise is to get back out and do whatever made you stiff and sore again.  So.....I went out on short 1.5 mile run this morning.  I needed to keep it brief due to the weather.  I also kept it short to re-calibrate my nike+ sensor.  When I finished the 10K on Saturday, it said I still had another 1K to go.  It was pretty far off which makes me feel good to know that I'm not as slow as I thought I was.  I also fixed hubby's sensor.  His battery died so we got him a new chip.

After my run this morning, Lance Armstrong came on to congratulate me on a big milestone.  250 miles!!  Since I got my nike+ chip, I've run 250 miles!  WOO HOO!!
