New sneaks, shot blocks, and one more training run....

I've been having some minor pain in my right arch lately. I really should learn to listen to my body...when the arch starts hurtin', it's time for new sneaks. I went to Fleet Feet (the best running store ever) and got a new pair of my favorites...Brooks Adrenaline. I took them out for a spin on the sidewalk and the difference is amazing...NO ARCH PAIN!

I also picked up some shot blocks in orange.  I'm going to do two things differently for this 1/2 marathon (not counting the new sneaks)...

-I'm going to hydrate with electrolytes from the start (previous 1/2 marathon I didn't start until the 1/2 way point)
-I'm going to do shot blocks at the 1/2 way point

I'm hoping these two things will help prevent the side stitch and quad cramp I got last time.  Funny thing though...I never had a quad cramp or a side stitch in my training runs prior to the 1/2 (or in my trainng runs since, for that matter).  Think its mental?

12 or 13 this weekend and then the taper begins.

Champagne has been purchased!

Way to go Flyers...I knew they would tie it up at home.  We've got our champagne ready....

It was a hot run this morning.  I did just under 5 miles.  What I'm most proud of is that I ran the whole way up this massive hill.  The hill is long and steep (for the local folks, it's the hill behind Genuardi's in Spring House).  We all call it the Genuardi's hill.  Last week I walked 1/2 of it.  Not today...nope...ran the whole hill!!

Tomorrow I will run 6 miles at Peace Valley with a bunch of Fleet Feet runners. I met my 1/2 marathon trainer today...she is FAST!

Big news on the work front...can't spill the beans yet...but will let you all know soon.

Ready for the weekend??

A nice hot one is in store for us!  Good thing we don't have too many outdoor activities planned.  Tonight we'll be indoors rooting for our Flyers!  Tie it up, boys!!

Tomorrow, I will run with my broad street gals with Fleet Feet!  JAL has a play date and then my college housemate is coming with her 3 kids.  Should be a great day.

I'm escaping to AC for two days with my Mom.  I got that freebie deal from the Borgata again (free room for two nights, free VIP club lounge access, free comedy club tickets and $10 in slot play).  If you recall, Mike and I went back in March (or was it April) and had a blast.  It's one of those deals that sounds too good to be true...but it really is.  Anyway, this time I'm taking my Mommy!  We'll hit the outlets, relax by the pool at the Borgata, drink, laugh, and hopefully win some $$$.

Happy Friday everyone!  Enjoy the weekend!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

I kicked off Memorial Day weekend with a quick 2 mile run at 6 am this morning.  It was crisp, cool and beautiful!  Then, I came home only to have to rush around like crazy people by getting two kids ready for Olympic Day and one Mom ready for the workday.

Tomorrow,  I will run again with fleet feet (perhaps 4 or 5 miles).  I have a ton of grocery shopping to do before we take ARL to a birthday party in the afternoon.  Sunday we are going to the circus and Monday to a parade!  Given the weather forecast, I think it is shaping up to be a beautiful weekend!

I would like to take a moment to be thankful that the North Penn board and teachers have finally agreed upon a contract.  I can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the kiddos will all go back the Tuesday after Labor Day as planned!  Thank you Mr. Mediator!

A great day!

What a great day...kicked it off with a nice 3.3 miles with fleet feet. Hubby was able to join me since both kids were at sleepovers! Now if that isn't running dedication, I'm not sure what is. We have both kids away for the night and we get up at 7:30 am to run!!

I also got a lovely massage at citrus today. Citrus is one of the best spas in the area. I love Barb...she gives the best massages and is just so incredibly nice!!  I had no clue, but apparently Citrus has a rewards club.  They told me I had $12 on credit for being a loyal customer.  I didn't use it today since I had a gift card from my bday...but I'm thinking next time I go, I'll score a free mani!  WOO HOO!!

Hubby is cooking steak on the grill for dinner tonight. I'll make the creamed spinach and we'll indulge in a lovely Cabernet. In fact, it is just about 4 pm...time for happy hour!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's!!

Happy Weekend!

Ahhhh....it's finally here!  I can't wait for (hopefully) one of the best weekends of my life.  I'm not going to let a little rain dampen (get it...rain...dampen...HA HA) my spirits!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.  To those I will see at Fleet Feet tomorrow, I am running if it is misting or drizzling.  If it's a down pour, I'm just going for the festivities.

Also...just a quick note on a 10K coming up for all my RunnerGirlz....

March 27 at Wissahickon High School:  www.2young2go.org.
Lisa ran it last year and said it's good.  As of right now, I'm registered (see it listed in my sidebar of race tracking).   Catherine is running it and Lisa and Barb are still considering.   It's a great training race for those doing Broad St.!

What a waste of a day.

So... I am at my main client today when something weird starts happening to my PC.  A product called "Virus Protector" comes up and informs me that I have 21 viruses and that my entire contact list is being spammed by my PC.  I thought it was odd because my company uses McAfee and because the "Virus Protector" software needed my credit card immediately to update my settings and re-instate protection.

I have spent the ENTIRE afternoon on the phone with tech support.  They are being incredibly helpful and actually saved me from driving to the home office.  But, what a total and complete waste of my afternoon.

In other events, I did get a run in today in the beautiful weather.  I went 3 miles.  I'll probably do my long run on Wednesday or Thursday this week so that I can do a short run with hubby who is joining me for the Saturday morning festivities at Fleet Feet!  If you are runner, you should definitely come to Fleet Feet (near Whole Foods) this Saturday morning at 8 am.  Free tech weave t-shirts to the first 50 who show up, Brooks gear scavenger hunt on the running trail, raffles, pot of gold prize bucket (value over $350), pancakes for breakfast, etc.  It is going to be quite the event!
